How to use Lumident-Ortho™

Lumident-Ortho™ is simple to use and complements your orthodontic treatment. Use it 10mins per day (5 minutes for the upper arch and 5 minutes for the lower arch) as shown in the user guide whilst reading, watching TV or just relaxing.

  • Can Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ have multiple users or shared among family members?
    Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ is designed to be used by one patient only throughout its lifetime. This is for hygienic purposes and to ensure that warranty coverage is not compromised.
  • Does the light emitted by the device cause eye damage?
    Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ uses low intensity LED lights, similar to security camera IR emitters which are considered eye-safe.
  • How long does a power bank charge last?
    A full power bank charge lasts for several days of treatment. It is recommended that you charge the power bank regularly after use.
  • How long does it take to fully charge the power bank?
    It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the power bank.
  • Does the device need to be cleaned after each use?
    No, it is not necessary to clean Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ after each use but it is advisable to rinse the device under warm water after use and let it dry before putting it back in the box.
  • Why can’t I see the light coming out from the Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ mouthpiece?
    Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ LED arrays generate near-infrared light that is invisible to the human eye.
  • Are there any restrictions when traveling with Lumident-Orthoâ„¢?
    No, Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ is travel safe. It is recommended to have Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ packed in carry-on luggage so regular treatment schedule is not interrupted. The power bank is also compliant with the Lithium Metal Battery Regulations.
  • Is Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ latex free?
    The Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ mouthpiece is manufactured from 100% medical grade silicone. It is not made with natural rubber latex.
  • If I complete two or more self treatments per day, will it increase the acceleration of my treatment?
    Follow your doctor’s instructions.
  • Are there contra-indications for using Lumident-Orthoâ„¢?

  • How do I treat my lower jaw?
    After completing the 5-min treatment of your upper jaw, flip the mouthpiece and put it on your lower jaw. Press the power button of the power bank and wait for 5 minutes until the power bank light goes off.
  • How do I know if my treatment is done?
    Once the light of the power bank goes off after 5 minutes of treatment on your lower jaw, the full treatment is done.
  • What if I need to pause the treatment?
    It is recommended to complete the full 5-minute treatment per dental arch without interruption to achieve the full benefit.
  • Can I move during treatment?
    It is recommended to do the treatment while sitting down but other non-strenuous activities can also be done during treatment like reading and watching TV, as long as the device remains in its proper place.
  • Are there any side effects from using Lumident-Orthoâ„¢?
    There have been no side effects reported from use of this form of light therapy. You might, however, experience a warm tingling sensation on the treated area which is completely normal.
  • How much pressure is needed when biting down on the device during treatment?
    Only a gentle bite is required during treatment.
  • Should clear aligners be removed during treatment?
    It is recommended that patients remove their clear aligners during treatment.
  • At what time of the day should I be using Lumident-Ortho?
    Lumident-Orthoâ„¢ can be used at any time of the day but it is recommended to establish a daily routine by using it at the same time every day.
